We are delighted to present Apivar® 2.0, the latest advancement in varroa mite treatment that has recently received EPA federal registration in the USA. Developed by our dedicated Innovation team at Véto-pharma, this new treatment is the culmination of years of research and valuable customer feedback. It aims to provide effective solutions to the contemporary challenges faced by beekeepers while ensuring the health and longevity of their bee colonies.
As of April 1st, Apivar 2.0 has been approved in 34 states, including AK, AL, AR, CO, DC, DE, GA, IA, ID, IL, KY, KS, LA, MA, ME, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, VT, WI, WV, and WY— with more states expected in the coming weeks!

Effectiveness is paramount when it comes to managing varroa mite populations, and Apivar 2.0 has been formulated to produce a significant mite drop within the first weeks of treatment.
Developed through comprehensive field studies, this treatment addresses the critical need for rapid action, delivering a swift reduction in mite populations within the first three weeks. This quick decrease helps alleviate stress on honey bee colonies, promoting a healthier hive environment.
Streamlined Application: Specialized Hanging System for all Hive Types
Time is of the essence for busy beekeepers, and Apivar 2.0 gets that! Our innovative hanging system simplifies the application process, saving you both time and effort. And guess what? You can save your toothpicks for the appetizers—they’re no longer needed to hang Apivar strips!
Understanding that beekeepers use an array of hive types, Apivar 2.0 features adaptable strip lengths that are compatible with various hive configurations, including but not limited to Langstroth and Dadant. Notably, for Langstroth hive users, a pre-cut line on the strip has been specially added. This thoughtful feature allows you to easily place Apivar 2.0 strips between your brood frames, ensuring seamless integration and compatibility with your existing hive setups.
How and When to Use Apivar 2.0?
Apivar 2.0 is most effective during periods of bee activity in the hive, making it ideal for both spring and fall treatments. To apply, place one strip per five frames of bees (FoB) in each brood chamber and leave them in place for 6 to 10 weeks.
Good to know: There is no temperature restriction when applying Apivar 2.0 strips!
NEW! With Apivar 2.0, there’s no withholding period required; you can place your honey supers immediately after removing the treatment strips, streamlining your beekeeping workflow.
Pro tip: For maximum efficacy, scrape strips free of wax and propolis and reposition them in the brood area at mid-treatment. This ensures maximum contact between the bees and the treatment strips.
Availability and Packaging Options
We are currently in the process of obtaining state registrations to make Apivar 2.0 widely available. Our team is also working diligently to finalize the list of beekeeping retailers who will carry this new product.
Apivar 2.0 comes in a range of pack sizes – 4, 12, and 60 strips – making it a flexible option for both individual and commercial beekeeping needs.
